On Friday, April 29, 2011, the Los Angeles City Council honored USC and the Los Angeles Times by officially proclaiming the weekend of April 30-May 1 as “Los Angeles Times Festival of Books at USC weekend in the City of Los Angeles.” USC president C. L. Max Nikias attended the presentation and delivered remarks on behalf of the university. The Los Angeles Times Media Group was represented by John T. O’Loughlin, executive vice president of advertising and chief revenue officer.
