At the USC President’s Leadership Retreat on Nov. 15, 2011, university administrators, faculty and staff gathered to revisit President Nikias’ vision and priorities for the institution, and to look ahead at their collective goals. Following President Nikias’ introduction, the agenda included three panels:

  • “Transforming Higher Education” examined the university’s strategic vision as it applies to students, faculty and the physical transformation of USC’s campuses.
  • “Transforming Society” provided an overview of broader trends as well as specific USC achievements and goals with respect to research, global initiatives and community engagement.
  • “Transforming Health Care” gave perspective on the transformation of USC’s medical enterprise since the acquisition of two hospitals in April 2009 and the recent naming of the Keck Medical Center of USC, together with developments in the Keck School of Medicine of USC and the Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC.

Additional presentations highlighting the $6 billion Campaign for the University of Southern California and USC’s new graphic identity program rounded out the morning program.

After lunch at Town and Gown, USC athletic director Pat Haden provided a snapshot of Trojan athletics and reviewed the goals for student-athletes at the university.
