On August 21, 2012, USC president C. L. Max Nikias presided over the opening of the 110,000-square-foot John McKay Center. Blending USC’s storied athletic legacy with the latest amenities and technology, the new building houses state-of-the art athletic training facilities, classrooms, coaches’ offices, locker rooms, weight rooms and even an indoor football field, all dedicated to the university’s 21 men’s and women’s sports. Named for the former Trojan football coach who won four national championships during his 16-year tenure, the McKay Center was made possible by the support of many donors and friends of the university, including trustees Edward P. Roski Jr., Ronald N. Tutor and Daniel J. Epstein. Additionally, on the first floor is the Stevens Academic Center, named for trustee Mark A. Stevens and his wife, Mary, which provides space for tutoring, counseling, and study and computer rooms for student-athletes.
