USC President C. L. Max Nikias joined Distinguished Professor George A. Olah, winner of the 1994 Nobel Prize in Chemistry and holder of the university’s Donald P. and Katherine B. Loker Chair in Organic Chemistry, along with a host of others to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the USC Loker Hydrocarbon Research Institute on Oct. 18, 2012. (Established at USC in 1977, the institute was renamed in 1984 in acknowledgement of the Lokers’ generous support.) The occasion also marked the 85th birthday of Prof. Olah, the institute’s founding director.
