Film luminaries including USC Trustee Steven Spielberg and alumnus George Lucas helped celebrate the naming of the Sumner Redstone Production Building at the USC School of Cinematic Arts at an event held on February 5, 2013. The building was named in Redstone’s honor upon his recent $10 million gift to USC. At the event, Redstone told reporters that he was “proud to join his friends Lucas and Spielberg in supporting future generations of filmmakers.”
USC President C. L. Max Nikias commented, “This building is an important cornerstone of the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts. This is where our students’ creative ideas will find a place in the real world. This building will be a critical front in the battle for fresh storytelling.”
