USC President C. L. Max Nikias and Mrs. Niki C. Nikias welcomed Trojans at a reception held in the San Francisco Bay area. USC has approximately 20,000 alumni in Northern California who, in addition to San Francisco, are concentrated in communities such as San Jose, Hillsborough, Los Altos, Saratoga, Sunnyvale, Lafayette, Oakland and Fremont. USC opened an office in San Francisco in 2011, and the university also owns and operates KDFC classical radio, bringing classical music programming from as far north as the Ukiah/Lakeport area down through the Los Gatos/ Saratoga region.
