Erica Muhl was formally installed as the Dean of the USC Roski School of Fine Arts at a ceremony attended by the school’s namesake, Gayle Garner Roski, university leadership and members of the faculty on October 1, 2013. Her permanent appointment was announced to the USC community and the public on May 1, 2013, after having served as interim dean since September of 2012.

Dean Muhl currently chairs the University Committee on Academic Review. Among other positions, she has previously served as associate dean for faculty affairs at USC Thornton, chair of the Mellon Mentoring Forum, and a member of the University Committee on Appointments, Promotions and Tenure. Her professional experience spans the fields of classical, contemporary and experimental music; film, video and broadcast media; opera and music theater; dance; and other forms of audio-visual collaboration. As a composer, her works have been commissioned and featured by leading ensembles, venues and festivals worldwide.
