The grand opening of the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at USC celebrated a vision aimed at bringing the highest quality of mental health care to Los Angeles’ veterans and military families.
The downtown Los Angeles clinic was made possible by a $15.7 million grant from Cohen through his nonprofit Cohen Veterans Network. It offers free care to veterans and their families who are suffering from post-traumatic stress, mood disorders, substance abuse and other mental health issues.

USC President C. L. Max Nikias was the honoree at the 2016 Testimonial Dinner hosted by the Federation of Cypriot American Organization (FCAO) in New York on Friday.
Nikias was recognized for outstanding academic achievements and leadership and was presented a replica of the Kyrenia ship by Republic of Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades and FCAO President Kyriakos Papastylianou. A merchant ship that sailed the Mediterranean in the fourth century B.C., the Kyrenia ship is a symbol of national pride for Cyprus.

The midday hubbub of the USC University Park Campus took a brief pause Wednesday as several hundred students, staff, faculty and friends paused to remember Steven B. Sample, the university’s 10th president, who died Tuesday.
Sample led USC from 1991 to 2010, a period in which the university quickly rose into the ranks of the nation’s elite, launched unprecedented community service programs and increased diversity among the faculty and staff.

SHANGHAI – The 2015 USC Global Conference opened at the Grand Hyatt Shanghai today with a record attendance of more than 700 at the welcome dinner to start the event. Guests were treated to special performances by local artists and USC students.

C. L. Max Nikias first arrived at USC in 1991, and has served as a professor, national research center director, engineering dean, provost, and president. He serves the university as a life trustee and as its president emeritus. During his tenure as president, Nikias advanced USC’s premier academic and global standing, led a generational upgrade and expansion of both of the university’s campuses, and created college pathways for low-income students.
